c:\autodesk
By default, AutoDesk software installations generally create the subdirectory c:\autodesk and place the extracted install files under a GUID-named or software-named subdirectories.
The 2023 installation issue described in my previous post was probably caused by missing files from this structure. The first symptom of the issue was related to the missing rvt.msi file.
There are several Autodesk knowledge links I found helpful:
- Moving or deleting the C:\Autodesk folder
- How to install updates after deleting the C:\Autodesk folder
You may need these files for some update operations, and I now keep a copy of the “install” files on my support file server or Onedrive for future upgrades.
